Salem Media Group has agreed to purchase WWFE-AM (670) known as "La Poderosa", a Spanish-language talk radio format emphasizing Cuban news and music.

Additionally, Salem Media Group is purchasing WWFE's FM translator W276DV (103.1) along with WRHC-AM (1550) and its FM translator W254DV (98.7).

"For over four decades Salem Media Group has provided a platform for conservative voices on-air, and now online, and in print," Salem Media Executive Chairman Edward Atsinger said (h/t Radio Online).

"Now we will do the same for South Florida's Spanish-speaking community as well, as we add leading Spanish-speaking voices of freedom to our lineup."

The station's current formats will remain intact as Salem Media Group intends to continue broadcasting in Spanish following the closing of the purchase.

"Jorge, Sr. left us before his work was complete, but it gives me comfort that before his passing he and I had agreed that Salem Media Group shared his vision to provide a home for conservative Spanish-language programming in Miami," Fenix Broadcasting's Ana Rodriguez said.

"Parting with our stations is not easy, but Jorge, Jr. and I have more confidence about the transaction because of Salem Media Group's track record as a platform for conservative ideals."

Salem Media Group's purchase of WWFE and WRHC comes on the heels of another deal that saw the company acquire other stations in Miami in 5kW Spanish Sports WMYM-AM (990) and its translator W254DT (98.7) from Actualidad Media Group.

Soprano's actor Steve Schirripa remembered former WABC host Bernard McGuirk as a good guy who called it like it was. McGuirk died nearly two weeks ago following a battle with prostate cancer.

Since then, WABC Radio has committed itself to honoring McGuirk's legacy. Sid Rosenberg, who served as McGuirk's partner for the last six years on the highly rated "Bernie & Sid" show, was joined by Schirripa on Tuesday.

"The reason I liked Bernie so much is that if he liked you, he liked you," said Schirripa. "Bernie could care less who the guests were [on WFAN]. If he liked you and you had something funny to say then he liked you."

Schirripa reflected on McGuirk's time with the late Don Imus. McGuirk began his radio career in 1986. He served as Imus's executive producer from 1993 until 2018.

"He was a really smart guy," Schirripa added. "I don't think a lot of people know that Bernie was feeding Don Imus all those funny lines, all those years. That was Bernie."

McGuirk, had been co-host of WABC's "Bernie & Sid in the Morning" with Sid Rosenberg since April of 2018.
